A letter to my daughter on her first day of preschool

Dear Alyssa,

It’s hard to believe that your first day at pre-school has arrived. It seems like just yesterday you were a tiny little baby lying in my arms – needing me every minute of the day.

Now you’re a big girl, with a backpack on her back, carrying her own little lunch bag on her way to pre-school.

I am so proud of you for being so excited and happily walking into your class without shedding a tear. Me on the other hand – I cried all the way home. Good tears though. Tears of pure love.

I will never forget that hug you gave me as I left the classroom. I needed it more than you did.

Your independence amazes me and I know that it’s a sign you are going to be a very profound adult one day.

This new chapter in your life is the beginning of your schooling career and I have very special hopes and dreams for your future – this here, is the foundation for you my sweetheart.

Yes, its not going to be very easy all the time and there may be a few challenges along the way, but it’s how you tackle those challenges that really matters.

There are a few things I want you to learn and love during your schooling journey:
  • I want you to learn about friendships
  • I want you to explore all your God-given talents
  • I want you to dream big
  • I want you to reach for the stars
  • I want you to learn about hard work and to always have goals to work towards
However, no matter what you learn at school, know that you are special, unique and that mommy and daddy are very proud of you.

We love you very much and cannot wait to see you flourish as you learn and develop over the years.

Love you to the moon and back

xxx
