Janet Bytheway is a registered Clinical Psychologist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa. She matriculated from Settlers High School after which she did her undergraduate training at the University of Cape Town. She completed her Honours Degree at the University of Port Elizabeth. Her Master’s Degree was completed at the University of the Western Cape and her internship at Lentegeur Psychiatric Hospital, Mitchells Plain. Janet started private practice in 1992 and for the past 20 years has been working with people experiencing challenges of various kinds in their lives. In 1995 she co-founded with Mandy Knaap, the Blaauwberg Therapy Centre, a multidisciplinary centre where medical and allied professionals could find a home and work together as a team. Her practice has become known for working holistically with children and families. She sees individual adults and does supervision for mental health professionals. She is an accredited FAMAC mediator. She has a special interest in working with families in distress. She works from a narrative perspective and has been trained to use various therapeutic modalities. She holds the belief that the correct choice of treatment modality for each individual is essential to ensure a good response to the intervention

Claudia Gray is a paediatrician with subspecialist accreditation in allergology. She undertook her medical degree at the University of Cape Town and specialized in paediatrics, paediatric allergy and paediatric clinical pharmacology in London. She returned from the United Kingdom to settle in Cape Town with her family just over 3 years ago. Claudia has a private paediatric and allergology clinic at Vincent Pallotti hospital in Cape Town. She is also a part time consultant at the Allergy and Asthma clinic at Red Cross Children’s Hospital, and an honorary senior lecturer at the University of Cape Town. Her research interests are in allergy pharmacology, and in food allergies in eczema patients, on which she is currently basing her PhD. Claudia has numerous publications in the fields of allergy and pharmacology, and presents regularly at local as well as international conferences. She has assisted in editing the journal “Current Allergy and Clinical Immunology.” Claudia is a regular examiner at the postgraduate Diploma in Allergy exams, and has recently been elected as an executive committee member of the Allergy Society of South Africa. Claudia has learned that all the theory in the world does not prepare you for the practicalities and challenges of parenthood, and learns daily lessons on “life” from her 3 beautiful young children!

Heather is the clinic sister at Thula Baby Centre, a well baby clinic, offering support and advice to new Moms and Dads. She is an IBCLC-qualified lactation consultant so offers specialist care for breastfeeding Moms, as well as Moms who aren't breastfeeding. Her focus is on encouraging and empowering couples to parent with confidence and to enjoy their babies. She monitors growth and infant development advises re routine, sleeping, weaning, and vaccinates from 6 weeks of age. She gives antenatal classes to prepare pregnant couples and facilitates support/friendship groups for new Moms. She is mother to Sian, twelve, and Thomas, nine, and is a keen runner, hiker, camper, chef and gardener.
Dr Paul Le Roux

Dr Paul Le Roux is a Reproductive Medicine Specialist. He trained in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Cape Town and the University of London (UCL). After completing his specialisation as an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, he did a 2 year fellowship in Reproductive Medicine at UCT. He published many articles on reproductive endocrinology in leading journals, and received many merit awards for his research work. Dr Le Roux is a Director of the Cape Fertility Clinic, a large private fertility clinic in Cape Town. He is also the elected President of the South African Reproductive Medicine and Gynaecological Endoscopy Society (SASREG). His interests are performing IVF (in vitro fertilization) treatment and minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery (keyhole surgery). He is married and has 2 beautiful daughters.

Kath Megaw is a Paediatric dietitian. She has over 15 years experience working in the field of Paediatric nutrition. After completing her basic dietetics degree, she obtained her diploma in Paediatric dietetics through JHI in the USA.Her passions include helping parents navigate through the wealth of information relating to breast feeding, solid introduction, allergies and any other special dietary needs. She recently co-authored the book Feeding Sense and gives regular workshops and talks to parents and caregivers on subjects related to infant and Toddler feeding. Her professional qualifications are supported through being a mom to her own three beautiful children all of whom have had their own nutritional challenges.
Dr Nomathamsanqa (Tamtam) Matebese

Dr Matebese qualified as a medical doctor in 1993. She completed her specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Cape Town. She did her fellowship training in Reproductive Endocrinology at the same University. She completed a master’s degree at UCT, her main field of research was psychosocial aspects of Reproductive Endocrinology. Dr Matebese has previously worked in the Reproductive Medicine unit at Groote Schuur Hospital both as a clinician and lecturer where she was in charge of the recurrent miscarriage clinic for several years. She has also worked as a fertility specialist at the Vincent Pallotti Hospital in Cape Town. Her special interests are Gynae – Endocrinology, IVF, recurrent pregnancy loss and laparoscopic surgery. She has presented papers at both local and international congresses including the annual congress of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology ( ESHRE ) and at the International Federation of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists congress ( FIGO ). Dr Matebese has served as a committee member of the South African Menopause Society and was on the editorial board for the menopause update journal between 2009 and 2010. Dr Matebese is registered as an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa ( HPCSA ), and as a Sub-Specialist in Reproductive Medicine with the same body. Dr Matebese is married and has two lovely children.

Dr Lauren Lee is a Family GP with a special interest in child health and postpartum mental wellbeing; however all patients from 0-120 years old are welcome! After completing her medical degree at UCT, Dr Lee gained invaluable experience at Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto. This was followed by a year working at a small rural hospital on the North coast of KwaZulu Natal, where she developed a passion for working within the child and family framework and completed her Diploma in Child Health. She then followed the mass exodus to London, working mostly at The Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital. However, her South African blood proved too strong and she returned home to spend 3 dynamic years at The Red Cross Children's Hospital in Cape Town. In 2006, Dr Lee founded The Health Team with the intention of creating a community of like-minded practitioners that can offer advice on all health-related matters in a warm, nurturing and healing environment. Dr Lee’s medical practice includes managing day-to-day acute illnesses as well as the more chronic diseases of lifestyle. Her consultations often include elements of Health Coaching as a tool to support patients in achieving their optimal wellbeing.She believes that every child and adult can be supported to achieve their best potential. She does her utmost to actualise this.

Melinda studied at UCT, obtaining a BSc, an Honours degree in Pharmacology and an LLB. She undertook articles at Cliffe Dekker Inc, qualifying as an attorney with the Law Society of the Cape of Good Hope in 2004. Thereafter she spent 6 years practicing law in the UK. After the births of her two sons, she developed a keen interest in birth and birth support and on her return to SA, completed the WOMBS doula course. Melinda has been vice-chairperson of WOMBS since February 2012 and regularly volunteers in state hospitals as a volunteer doula. Melinda was a member of the committee that founded and convened the first Midwifery & Birth Conference in Cape Town in February 2013, and is currently involved in instituting a pilot doula project in state hospitals. Melinda is also employed by the Western Cape Government as a state legal adviser and is pregnant with her third child.

Andrea Klinkenberg is a Registered Nurse and Midwife with the South African Nursing Council. She has a passion for Midwifery with a particular interest in antenatal care, labour and delivery. Andrea was awarded her degree from the University of Johannesburg, along with certificates for Outstanding Achievement in Midwifery, as well as Outstanding Achievement in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing. Thereafter, she received invaluable experience and training in the Labour Ward at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital. Andrea loves educating people and has recently started on a path of training towards becoming an Antenatal and Perinatal Educator, with the hopes of eventually starting a clinic of her own. She is an advocate of patient rights and empowers couples through education and knowledge. Andrea currently works for the Vitalab Centre for Assisted Conception in Johannesburg as an IVF Programme Coordinator. She loves writing, and can be found contributing to various magazines on occasion. In her spare time, Andrea enjoys running, baking and seeing friends and family.
